Anurag Kashyap’s directional venture Womaniya stars Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar as leads.
The film also stars Prakash Jha, Vinit Singh, Shaad Randhawa and others and will begin filming in Uttar Pradesh from February 10 and is looking to finish by April.
Prakash Jha is reportedly playing the antagonist in the film. Lyricist Raj Shekhar has penned six songs for the film and composer Vishal Mishra is trying to keep the music rural yet peppy and contemporary.
The film is a biopic on the lives of the world’s oldest female sharpshooters or better known as ‘Revolver Daadis’- Chandro Tomar, 86, and her sister-in-law, Prakashi, 81 – who reside in the Johri village of Western Uttar Pradesh.
The story of these two women conveys a strong message that life can even begin after 50. Chandro developed an interest in shooting when she visited the Johri Rifle Club in her fifty’s with her granddaughter.
Chandro and Prakashi shot to fame when their video went viral on the internet. The two have won over 100 medals in the veteran category across championships in the north zone and at pre-nationals. Prakashi has also been awarded a Stree Shakti Puraskar by former President Pranab Mukherjee, a Women’s Achievers in India trophy and an Icon Lady Award by the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
