The Accidental Prime Minister is based on the memoir of former Prime Minister and economist Dr. Manmohan Singh. The book has been written by Sanjay Baru who was the media advisor of Manmohan Singh with the same name. The movie has been a victim of controversies from the very first day. This created a buzz among the audience and the audience now wants to know what happened at that time.

The movie managed to earn a decent Box Office Collection of 4.5 crores on the very first day of its release.

Another release of 2019 is Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam starrer Uri: The Surgical Strike. The film is based on the 2016 Indian Army’s surgical strikes on Pakistan Occupied Kashmir as a retaliation for the Uri Attack. The movie is the solo release of Vicky Kaushal who has performed tremendously in movies like Raazi and Sanju. This factor proved to be a crowd puller for the movie.

The movie earned 8.2 crores on the first day of the release thus outperforming ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’.

Both the movies are of national interest and thus it was expected that the audience would react in a similar manner for both the movies but the Box Office figures indicate otherwise.

The reviews of ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ indicate that the movie looks more like a documentary. The movie’s content targets the audience that is particularly interested in politics. Therefore the movie fails to relate to the people of the country in general. On the other hand Uri : The Surgical Strike could relate to the audience in a better way. Vicky Kaushal has created a fan base owning to his previous powerful performances.

The difference in the Box office figures is there possibly due to the above mentioned reasons. The weekend Box Office Collections will tell the future of the movies.

Only time will tell what is in store for both the movies at Box Office.
